Work Hours Schedule & Rain Policy

2010 Summer Work Hours Schedule

Please read our Rain Policy.  The Rec is run by work hours and volunteers so it is very important that everyone fulfill their eight hour commitment.  Thanks for your understanding.

Work Hours ~ Options

Gate Duty or Snack Bar Duty – 4-hour shift (either 12pm-4pm or 4pm to 8pm) responsible for: 
~ Gate – check membership of all pool guests, collect guest fees, maintain the cleanliness of the snack bar pavilion, assist with the snack bar if needed.
~ Snack Bar – prepare and serve food products available to pool guests, restock inventory, maintain cleanliness of kitchen, collect payment for products, back up for Gate Duty if needed.

 Lawn Maintenance – Assignment to mow lawn in specific areas at scheduled times.  Member to use their own lawn mower to complete assignment.

 Pool Opening/Closing – Volunteer member is part of a team which works for a 4 hour shift for pool opening to be held on April 17, 2010 from 8am to 12 pm to prepare the pools for the season.  The tasks include the removal of the pool cover, installation of  pool-related hardware, diving board, lifeguard chairs,  addition of chlorine, and other assignments as directed. Pool Closing held in September to cover pool, etc.

 Park Clean-up – Volunteer member is part of a team (up to 12 members) which works for a 4 hour shifts to be held on April 17th.  May 1st or May 22nd from 8 am to 12 pm to begin to prepare the park for the season.  The tasks include turning water on/off,  removal of leaves and branches left behind from the winter, cleaning the bathrooms, kitchen, tables and guard room, repairing appliances if needed, replacing mulch under playground, repair parking lot, swings, picnic tables, planting/trimming trees/bushes, painting or as otherwise as directed. Please bring your own leaf blower, rakes, etc.

 General Maintenance – 8 hour work hour assignment for 1 to 2 member(s) familiar with general construction related repairs/installations, electrical repairs, plumbing repairs, etc.  Basically, someone to help fix things when they break – or else call in a trusted professional to fix it.

 Arts and Crafts – Every Tuesday and Thursday at 1 pm, an arts and crafts session is organized and run by a volunteer member for work hour credit.  Task includes planning, ordering supplies, advertising at pool, set up, clean up and instructing.  Sign up for 2 sessions equals  4 work hour credits. Must coordinate with Director.

 Social Events – The Hurley Rec’s social calendar is in need of several enthusiastic people to work with the Social Director in organizing or assisting the organizer in the hosting an adult or children’s party at the Rec. Tasks include working with the Social Director to identify a theme, date and budget for your social event.  Next, planning, advertising, sign ups and purchasing supplies must be done. Finally, there is set up, working the party, and clean up.  Party Organizers are credited with 8 work hours, Assistants are credited with 4 work hours.

 Movie Nights – Volunteers must sign up to run two (2) movie nights for 4 work hour credits.  Includes selecting movie, advertising movie, setting up screen and projector, selling popcorn/soda during movie, clean up.

 New Member Coordinator/Advertising/Publicity – 4 work hour credits to 1-2 members who assist Membership Director with advertising and new member outreach.

 Posting Property with No Hunting/Trespass Signage – 8 work hour credits to 1-2 members who complete the necessary posting of the Hurley Rec property boundary lines with no hunting/trespassing signage

 Trail Improvements – 8 work hour credits to 1-2 members who take on the project of improving the Hurley Rec’s trail system.  Include trail blazing, signage, rectifying safety issues, etc.

Work Hours ~ Important Information

** Work Hours **  To all members... Work hours need to be done by an adult, or young adult 16 sixteen or older.  A child 15 years old may do work hours with the appropriate working papers. 

** Snack Bar - Parents need to be sure that if they have a young adult work the snack bar, that they have completed the all the required work, including cleaning up & putting things away.
