Childrens Swim & Tennis Lessons
Swimming instruction is offered for all levels from pre-school through advanced. Tennis Lessons are also available.  Two week sessions begin June 28th. Also, a half day recreation program on Mon, Tues and Thurs 1-4pm called Rec Rats. The first two week session begins on June 28th.

Sign up for any one of the three sessions on Saturday, June 5th starting at 10 am at the pool or download the swim-tennis  lesson registration form and mail it with your fee to Hurley Rec, PO Box 58, Hurley, NY 12443.

REC RATS - Sign up your 10 and older age child for outdoor recreation program held Mon, Tues and Thurs 1-4pm.

NEWS FROM THE BOARD OF
DIRECTORS

The 2010 Board of Directors are looking forward to a great year.
The Board includes Jeanne Konz as President, Veronica Stinemire, Treasurer, Kathy Bova Lang as Secretary and the following Directors: Mark Pisano, Warren Peterson, Mickey Edwards, Kathy Hauck,  Michele Fuoco, Lisa Faxon, Jill Slutzky, Rick Baker and Rick Nacaratto.

Welcome to the 2010 Summer Season

The Rec will officially start its 41st season with the pool opening for the weekend of June 12&13 with limited hours of 1pm to 5 pm.

The pool is also open from 1pm to 5 pm only beginning on June 19th  to June 24th.

Beginning on Friday, June 25th, the Hurley Rec pool is open daily for open swim for all members until Labor Day from 12:00 pm to 8 pm, weather permitting. Mornings are reserved for swim team and swim lessons and occasionally, a Saturday morning or Wednesday afternoon swim meet.

The tennis courts are available from 8 am to 9 pm on any day of the week starting as soon as the nets are up in the spring, which is usually before Mother's Day. Please note the standing reservations for use by the Adult Tennis League, which generally uses both courts on the mid- week evenings (Tues, Wed and Thurs) from 6 pm to 9 pm and weekend mornings from 8 am to 11 am.

Children's tennis lessons are also held at the courts weekdays from 10 am to 12 pm beginning on June 28th and run until August 6th.

The Park and its Facilities:
The heart of the Rec is a four-lane 25-yard pool with diving area and children's area. There is also a Wading pool for toddlers * Dressing rooms with showers * Two hard surface tennis courts with windscreens * Umbrella tables with chairs * Chaise lounges * Concession Stand * Covered pavilions with picnic tables and barbeque grills * Basketball court * Playground area * Hiking Trails * Ice Skating Rink. ALSO - New Mountain Bike Trails through the 40 acre park.

The Ice Rink is available in the winter for use by members during the months of January and February, weather permitting. Check the Rec's website for more information.  Many thanks to Ryan Valdez, Brian Fuoco, Kevin Flood and their team of volunteers for great work this past winter.

SAVE THE DATE: JULY 17TH BI-ANNUAL SILENT AUCTION BENEFITTING THE HURLEY REC, ITS SWIM TEAM, TENNIS AND ICE RINK OPERATIONS.

Swim Team News:
This year's Swim Team Committee includes volunteer members Maria Davenport, President, Toni Cook,  Michelle Fuoco, Cindy Smith, Kathy Hauck, Kathy Longendyke, Beth Alden, and Jeanne Konz. We look forward to another successful season!

PRACTICE & MEET INFORMATION

Evening Practices begin June 1 (depending on pool conditions):   5:30pm-6:10pm for 10 & Under/6:00pm-7:15pm 11& older.
Blue and White Meet scheduled for June 30th beginning with a picnic at  5pm.
Morning Practices begin on June 28th;  7:30 -8:45 am for 11-18 yr olds;
8:45 - 9:45 pm for 10 and under swimmers

Adult Tennis League
All adult members are welcome to join the Rec's tennis league. If you are interested, matches are scheduled beginning the week after Mother's Day until Columbus Day.  All you have to do is indicate which dates you are available on the form available on the website or call Mickey Edwards, the Rec's Adult Tennis Coordinator, at 679-3416.

Work Hour Update:  Members are encouraged to choose their work hour assignments and write it down on your calendar as a reminder.  Of course, we understand that things happen, and sometimes you need to reschedule your work hours. If this happens, please call Lisa Faxon at least two days in advance at 331-8030 to let her know you need to reschedule for the next available date.  Also, please note that if you fail to satisfy your work hours, you will be charged $50 for each hour not worked. Changes subject to availability.

ARTS & CRAFTS, GATE DUTY, SNACK BAR DUTY,  LAWN MOWING &  SOCIAL Event Work Hours all require a commitment from you.  The Rec's success is dependent on your commitment to do your work hours.
